Throughout the week, Money Advice Scotland will be sharing useful resources on its social media platforms and hosting online sessions on topics from student finance options to managing debt. On Tuesday 3 March, from 10-11am, we are hosting an Ask the Expert session with the Students Advice Agency for Scotland where we will be discussing essential information such as how to apply for funding, the eligibility rules, loan/bursary amounts, repayment information as well as budgeting tips. It’s a free online session and attendees can book via Eventbrite. On Thursday 5 March, we are hosting an online event ‘Managing debt: What to expect from free Money Advice Services’, from 11am to 12pm. In this session we will cover what you should expect when accessing money advice, as well as debt solutions available in Scotland. You can book this free session on Eventbrite. Money Advice Scotland’s Chief Executive, Janine Rennie, said, “For many students, particularly those who are moving away from home for the first time, managing finances can be daunting. It can be difficult to navigate the application process for student loans and financial support, which is why we are hosting a webinar to explain the options available and how to apply. This webinar will be especially beneficial to anyone beginning a course later this year. “Our live session on managing debt will give a helpful overview of what to expect from money advice services and debt solution options, which will be particularly useful for anyone who is in financial difficulty. Both online sessions are free to attend. As well as the online sessions, we have a wealth of resources for students on our website, including a Student Money Guide which covers bank accounts, benefit entitlement, budgeting and more. "It is never too early for students to plan for the future and develop money skills that will ensure their financial wellbeing. Student Money Week is the perfect opportunity to reinforce this message and to remind students that Money Advice Scotland provide tools and resources that can help prepare them for life whilst in further education and beyond.” Our Student Money Guide is available here.
