Financial Education for Children & Young People: Training for Teachers Our relationship with money and our money habits and behaviours are formed by the age of 7, yet financial education in schools is inconsistent. The Money and Pensions Service’s strategy includes a goal to ensure that 2 million more children and young people in the UK receive a meaningful financial education. Money Advice Scotland have therefore developed a course on Financial Education for Children and Young People: Training for Teachers. This course will be beneficial for undergraduate student teachers, probationary teachers and fully qualified teachers alike. This 2 hour training will outline what we mean by financial wellbeing and the challenges to achieving this. The research surrounding the importance of financial education in primary schools will be examined and practical examples of how to incorporate meaningful financial education in the classroom will be discussed.
