As we go further into 2024, it's time to reflect on the progress we've made so far and share some exciting updates on our ongoing initiatives

Dignity First! Campaign 

Our Dignity First! campaign continues to be our primary focus, aimed at reshaping the narrative around money and debt. We had our successful launch event which we discussed in our previous blog post, we have also launched of our campaign resources. These include a comprehensive reporta language guide to promote respectful discourse, and a media toolkit to facilitate informed conversations. Additionally, we've established a steering group for the campaign and are actively seeking passionate individuals to join us in championing this cause. Consultation Responses

We've been diligently engaging with various consultations to ensure the voices of our members are heard in policy decisions. Our responses include submissions to the Scottish Government's Mental Health Moratorium consultation and the FCA's Access to Cash consultation. Currently, we're working on responses to the FCA's Enforcement Guide ConsultationOfgem's Affordability and Debt in the Domestic Retail Market consultation, and the UK Government's consultation on Raising Standards in the Tax Advice Market. As always, your input is invaluable in shaping impactful policies, so we encourage you to participate in these consultations. Statutory Debt Solutions Review

We’ve also been focused on Stage 3 of the Statutory Debt Solutions Review, we recently participated in a roundtable discussion with other stakeholders in the money and debt advice sector. Additionally, we hosted a consultation session for our members to gather their insights and perspectives. We are still awaiting the publication of the consultation but rest assured that we'll keep you informed of any developments.

Quarterly Policy Forum

Our quarterly policy forum remains a vital platform for dialogue and collaboration. We recently convened for insightful discussions, and we're pleased to announce that our next forum is scheduled for June 26th 2pm - 3pm, you can register here. We look forward to engaging with you and addressing key policy issues together.

Joint Conference Planning

We’ve also been busy planning our joint conference with esteemed partners - Citizens Advice Scotland, Christians Against Poverty, and StepChange. This collaborative event aims to foster knowledge exchange and collective action in the free money and debt advice sector. This event sold out very quickly and we’re looking forward to seeing you all there.
