Our Dignity First campaign aims to challenge and reduce the use of sitmatising and judgemental language when talking about debt, and when talking to people experiencing financial difficulty. You can learn more about the campaign here

As a supporter, you can get involved in this campaign in a few different ways:

Spread the word: You can help raise awareness of our campaign by sharing campaign resources

Share your experiences and views: When it comes to talking about money and debt, the language sometimes used includes terms or phrases that perpetuate stigma, prejudice, and judgement. Terms like "debtor," "financially irresponsible," "careless with money". Does this sound familiar? If so, we invite you to get involved with our Dignity First campaign by sharing your story.

It will not only inspire change, but it will also let others know they are not alone.  Sharing your insights as someone with lived experience of financial difficulties and debt can be used to make positive change in the language we, as a society, use on the subject. Your voice is a powerful force in challenging stigma and building a society that supports everyone on their financial journey.

Use our language guide: You can use (and encourage others to use) our language guide whenever you're communicating about debt or money.

Get involved with Stigma Alert: Stigma Alert is a community-driven initiative aimed at monitoring media reports and creditor communication and raising awareness about the harmful effects of stigmatising language and negative stereotypes.

By actively engaging with media content and reporting instances of stigma, we can advocate for more respectful and compassionate discourse surrounding financial issues.
