This payday, you may have noticed a change in your national insurance contributions. From 6 July 2022, the national insurance threshold (which is the amount of money you earn before you start paying contributions) has increased. It is now the same as the income tax threshold of £12,570.  The threshold for the last tax year was £9,588.

This means that most people (earning under £35,000 or so) will pay less national insurance from this month.
