From 1st April, the way we deliver debt adviser training in Scotland will be changing.

Citizens Advice Scotland and Money Advice Scotland have designed a new blended learning programme for debt advice training and CPD in Scotland as part of their MATRICS partnership.

Many advisers will already be familiar with the MATRICS project through its resources, training or the second tier support it has provided and will continue to provide to frontline workers in the money advice sector.

The MATRICS team’s new learning programme has been developed to update learning approaches and allow people to progress their training more fully in line with the Scottish National Standards for Information and Advice Providers (SNSIAP). In fact, training within the new programme is designed to match the levels or 'types' of advice in SNSIAP via a free, user-friendly, innovative and structured learning plans.

The programme will also feature an in-built learning record for each individual which, alongside the close alignment with SNSIAP, will allow learning agencies to produce reports providing evidence for accreditation easily and efficiently.

The MATRICS learning programme will begin to be rolled out from 1st April via a new MATRICS platform, meaning that Wiseradviser will be unavailable after 31st March. Advisers should therefore aim to complete any e-learning on Wiseradviser by 31st March in order to have their learning records transferred to the new MATRICS system.

Following the changeover on 1st April, we’ll see a phased roll-out of new approaches and blended learning features on the MATRICS platform including e-learning, online networks, webinars and livestreamed tutor-led sessions. We’ll begin to introduce a wider learning scope, with clear learning pathways and progression. Recognition of achievement will also be built into the system and there will be CPD opportunities for existing and trainee advisers on legislative policy and procedural updates.
