MASTrain is part of our offering to support the learning and development needs of the money advice sector.

MASTrain’s face-to-face courses are skills-focused full and half day courses, designed after consultation with money advisers. The courses are aimed at a range of experience levels: from brand-new advisers to those looking to refresh their skills, and very experienced money advisers who want support dealing with complex cases. The programme will introduce new courses on a quarterly basis.

There are four course types:

Support staff/non-advisers

These courses are for staff who work with people who may experience money worries, but do not give regulated money advice.

Beginners and refreshers

Suitable for advisers who are new to their role, as well as more experienced advisers who would like to refresh their knowledge or skills in specific areas, these courses provide training in key areas of money advice. Most of these courses are aimed at advisers from SNS Type I and II agencies.

Experienced advisers

These courses are for advisers who have a senior role within their organisation or who are relatively experienced from SNS Type I, II and III agencies.

Ideal for advisers who deal with specific technical aspects of advice; for example, court representation or insolvencies. The type of experience required is detailed in individual course descriptions. Most of these courses are aimed at advisers from SNS Type II and III agencies.

Please note that MASTrain and Wiseradviser are separate programmes. Wiseradviser continues to be facilitated by Money Advice Scotland. The MASTrain courses are designed to complement existing training in response to CPD needs identified following consultation with our members.
