We welcome membership applications from those working in the free money advice sector, insolvency practitioners and private sector advisers, as well as individuals from third sector organisations working in areas such as debt, housing, money and poverty. Membership is free for money advisers working in the free sector and for those working in relevant third sector organisations. MAS members are also invited to join our optional members’ forum, hosted on Basecamp. The forum provides a space for advisers to discuss money advice topics, share ideas, ask questions and connect with other members and MAS staff.

Financial wellbeing is about feeling secure and confident when it comes to your money. We know that with countless financial products out there to choose from, jargon to cut through, and an ever-changing financial landscape, it can be difficult to feel fully confident and able to make informed decisions about your money. Our Financial Wellbeing Team exists to help people better understand financial products, manage their money, and build financial resilience. We use the terms ‘financial wellbeing,’ ‘financial education,’ and ‘money guidance’ to describe the work of our Financial Wellbeing Project. As part of the project, our Financial Wellbeing Officers deliver informative and interactive sessions to provide financial education and money guidance. These sessions break down various financial topics, making them less complicated, practical, and easy to understand.

MATRICS learn is a blended learning platform and has been developed to update learning approaches and allow advisers to progress their training more fully in line with the Scottish National Standards for Information and Advice Providers (SNSIAP). We work to be a strong voice for consumers and people in debt in Scotland by identifying detriment and acting on it. Part of our plan is to influence social and public policy and by working closely with our members, we can identify causes of harm to consumers at an early stage. We also provide a strong and persuasive voice for the advice sector, ensuring that our members’ views are heard.
While our website is undergoing development, please email policy@moneyadvicescotland.org.uk or comms@moneyadviescotland.org.uk for any queries.

This section of the website is dedicated to our ongoing work in the Workforce Wellbeing Project. This project delivers a two-pronged approach in supporting the wellbeing of the free money advice sector workforce in Scotland: it provides access to free training and resources to deliver immediate wellbeing interventions, whilst conducting research to identify the actions required to make fundamental, systemic, and lasting change to address wellbeing needs.
