Job title: 
Income Maximiser
Organisation:  DLMAC
Salary:  £10,000
Job Type:  Initial Contract for 13 weeks
Hours:  17.5 hours per week
Closing date:  15th March 2013 (12 noon)

Core function:

The core function of the Income Maximiser’s remit is to provide information, advice and assistance to eligible service users up to Level 2 of the Scottish National Standards for Advice and Information, covering all aspects of the Healthy Start Programme, income maximisation and welfare rights.

Actual function:

The role has a variety of activities and considerations in managing the delivery of the objectives and outcomes of the Early Years/Keep Well Programme:

The tasks will include the following:

  • To provide advice and assistance to eligible service users on the function and operation of the Healthy Start programme
  • To liaise directly with NHS staff on the making of and processing of referrals
  • To provide eligible clients with income maximisation advice and services
  • To provide eligible clients with information and advice on welfare rights entitlement
  • To identify and refer appropriate cases onto other elements of DLMAC’s services where agreed and via the inter-project referral system
  • To maximise the client’s income through advice on welfare benefits and other sources of financial assistance
  • To offer appropriate assistance to individuals requiring help with financial budgeting
  • To provide representation and advocacy at informal meetings or case conferences
  • To keep up to date with developments in income maximisation , welfare rights and general money advice and changes in relevant legislation
  • To liaise with appropriate local and national debt and money advice agencies in addition to statutory agencies and voluntary organisations
  • To cover outreach clinics and work at venues across the Glasgow West area, with intermittent evening and weekend work required
  • Contributing to the implementation of a marketing and communication strategy
  • Contributing to the preparation of training programmes
  • Providing an outreach service at locations agreed by the line manager including home visits
  • Utilising pre-existing systems and providing statistical information and casework as required to best practice standards
  • Any other duties appropriate to the post
  • Working knowledge of local and national policies in respect of child poverty and welfare rights, knowledge and understanding of the issues facing people suffering financial difficulties and previous experience within a similar role (paid or voluntary) beneficial.
