Accountant in Bankruptcy (AiB) is an agency of the Scottish Government. The Agency operates independently and impartially. AiB supervise the process of bankruptcy in Scotland. The Agency: develops policy for personal; corporate insolvency and diligence in Scotland; maintains a public register of insolvencies, Protected Trust Deeds and company insolvencies; ensures those involved in bankruptcy properly carry out their responsibilities; acts as trustee in bankruptcy where no insolvency practitioner is appointed; employs private insolvency practitioners to act as their agents.
AiB administers the Debt Arrangement Scheme, maintains the DAS Register, approves Debt Payment Programmes and money advisors and payment distributors.

Citizens Advice Scotland
The Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) Service in Scotland is an independent network that helps people resolve their money, legal and other problems. It provides information and advice, and influences government and organisations to bring about changes in policy and law. Advice provided by the CAB Service in Scotland is free, independent, confidential and impartial, and available to everyone. Most CAB staff are trained volunteers, working at more than 200 service points across Scotland. Citizens Advice Scotland (CAS) is the umbrella body for Scottish Citizens Advice Bureaux.
Experian
Experian provides consumers, businesses and the public sector with information and analysis to help them make important decisions. We help you understand and manage your credit information and provide free credit reports for consumers receiving debt advice from not-for-profit advice agencies.
Financial Ombudsman Service
Our Technical Advice Desk is available to all types of advisers and can help by providing informal assistance on how the Ombudsman might view a particular issue, help you find information about the Ombudsman Service you need, or explaining how the Ombudsman Service works. French Duncan
French Duncan is one of Scotland’s largest independent firms of chartered accountants. GAIN
GAIN is a network of advice and information agencies in Glasgow, made up of Citizens Advice Bureaux, independent money advice agencies, law centres and Glasgow City Council’s Social Work. Money Advice Trust
Money Advice Trust (MAT) is a charity formed in 1991 to increase the quality and availability of free, independent money advice in the UK. We work with government, the private sector and UK’s leading money advice agencies to: increase the availability of money advice; improve its quality; and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of its delivery.
MAT’s key activities are: A) Support to the debt advice sector through training, second tier support, quality assurance developments, e.g. Money Advice Quality Model, policy, research and evaluation, fundraising, facilitation and strategy development, and B) Direct service provision (National Debtline and Business Debtline)
Mortgage to Rent
Mortgage to Rent helps people in danger of having their homes repossessed to stay in their home as tenants of a housing association or local authority. It’s funded and operated by the Scottish Government.
Before applications are considered, legal action must be underway forcing sale or repossession. The property is sold to a landlord and rented back to the household. The scheme gives landlords a purchase and repairs subsidy allowing a social rent to be charged and necessary repairs to be carried out. SAMH is Scotland’s leading mental health charity and is dedicated to mental health and wellbeing for all. SAMH provides an independent voice on all matters of relevance to people with mental health and related problems.
SAMH provides advice and guidance to a wide range of national bodies and delivers support to over 3000 people through 80 services across Scotland and also provides a range of information, training and consultancy on mental health and mental health problems. The Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO) is a membership and representative body working with and for the 50,000 charities and voluntary organisations in Scotland. Scottish Helpline for Older People
The Scottish Helpline for Older People provides an Information Service for people aged 50 and over, and those associated with them, who live in Scotland. Our service is free, confidential and impartial. If we don’t know the answer to your query, we usually know someone who can help. Our Helpline is open between 10 am and 4 pm Monday to Friday. ScottishPower
ScottishPower’s Home Visit Programme is designed to help those customers most in need. The programme, operated via our Community Liaison Service, is available to all customers but, in particular, to those that are experiencing difficulties or problems in the provision of their energy supply or the way in which they pay. The service provides support and guidance on all aspects of energy usage and ensures that the customer benefits from the wide range of measures we can provide as a major energy supplier. Young Scot is the national youth information and citizenship charity. We provide young people, aged 11 - 26, with a mixture of information, ideas and incentives to help them become confident, informed and active citizens. We do this in a variety of formats, including books, magazines, online, phone, etc, so young people can access information in a way they are comfortable with. It is our hope that the information we provide will enable young people to make informed decisions and choices, turn ideas into action and take advantage of the opportunities available to them in local communities.
